How can I achieve that?It may be an option to turn one's research into a company when one wishes, oneself, to develop a discovery (normally patented) into a product or method which can be taken to market, or to make it more saleable to another enterprise. A developer/initiator whose discovery is incorporated into a related start-up company, receives appropriate compensation (preferably shares in that company e.g. a BV - Besloten Vennootschap). Spin-off In order to establish a business, you need money. Given that, at the moment of the business's conception, it will be unclear whether or not the discovery will earn money, we refer to so-called venture-capital. Venture capitalists will, of course, want to receive some return on their investment. Another option is to borrow money from the bank. However, the bank may not be willing to lend money, given the uncertainty (in their eyes) of the investment. In order to assist start-up companies survive this difficult initial phase, the Dutch government has initiated helpful subsidy arrangements. |
